I traveled to Baltimore this week with my best friends Marco Infante and Brandon Slavinski, to meet a very special girl, Brooke Shockley. She’s a cancer patient as Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and a HUGE inspiration to me. I was approached a few months ago by a foundation called ‘Music is Medicine’ and asked to write an original song for Brooke. We skyped a few times, and I wrote and recorded her song ‘Fly’ last month. But what was REALLY cool for me was traveling to Baltimore to actually meet her. We performed her song live for her, and then hung out and got lunch. We also got to meet a lot of other really cool kids there, passed around shakers and tamborines, and had a jam session! We smiled, we laughed, and I remember why I started doing this. So thankful. I really feel like music can change lives. I hope our visit inspired some of these kids as much as they’ve inspired me!
